The State of Qatar welcomed the mediation of the Republic of Turkey between Russia and Ukraine, expressing hope that the negotiations that began in Istanbul would achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement between the two countries.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the State of Qatar's call to all parties to exercise restraint, resolve the dispute through dialogue and diplomatic methods, settle international disputes by peaceful means, and not take anything that would lead to further escalation.
The Ministry affirmed the State of Qatar's keenness on the United Nations Charter and the well-established principles of international law, including the obligations under the Charter to settle international disputes by peaceful means and its commitment to the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of states.
