153rd Arab League Ordinary Session Begins with State of Qatar's Participation

The 153rd Ordinary Session of the Arab League began on Wednesday at the General Secretariat of the Arab League headquarters at the level of foreign ministers, headed by the Sultanate of Oman.

The delegation of the State of Qatar was led by HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi.

The agenda of the session includes a number of items related to the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, developments in Syria, Libya and Yemen, the security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arab Gulf region, support for peace and development in the Republic of Sudan, Federal Republic of Somalia, and United Republic of Comoros.

The agenda also includes topics on the dangers of Israeli armaments on Arab national security and international peace, the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone and other weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East and topics related to Arab relations with international and regional groupings.

The Council will also consider the draft resolutions and topics that have been agreed upon to be submitted by the permanent delegates during their meetings over the past two days to the Foreign Ministers for decision.
