Ambassador Al Emadi Continues Efforts to Reach Calm in Gaza, Inspects Progress of Qatari Projects

Chairman of Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi said that he has held a series of meetings with all parties in Gaza Strip since his arrival in Gaza Strip last week, in the framework of the efforts aimed at reaching a truce agreement in the Strip.

Ambassador Al Emadi, who is currently visiting Gaza Strip after an absence of about 6 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, highlighted the seriousness of the current conditions in the Strip and the deterioration of various sectors as a result of the ongoing blockade, while stressing continuous efforts and relentless contacts by the State of Qatar to reach understandings of calm between the parties.

Ambassador Al Emadi underlined that the State of Qatar is keenly seeking to achieve calm that guarantees the empowerment of donor countries and international organizations, at the forefront the State of Qatar, to implement their humanitarian projects in Gaza Strip without any obstacles, aiming at improving the conditions of people in the Strip.

The visit of Ambassador Al Emadi to Gaza Strip comes amidst complicated humanitarian and political conditions in the Strip, coinciding with tightening the blockade and the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, in addition to the continuing electricity crisis and the closure of the crossings.

During his several days visit to Gaza Strip, Ambassador Al Emadi, accompanied by his deputy Khalid Al Hardan, paid inspection tours to a number of Qatari projects in the Strip, most importantly the projects of the establishment of Noura Rashid Al Kaabi Dialysis Center, Hamad bin Jassim Center for Integrated Rehabilitation Care in the northern Gaza Strip, and Al-Amal residential city mosque. They also inspected the work in the warehouses of the Qatari Committee located on the Palestinian side of Rafah land crossing.

During the tours, Ambassador Al Emadi stressed Qatar's continued support for the people of Gaza Strip in the various aspects of life, and indicated that the Qatari Committee continues to provide the necessary support to the citizens in quarantine centers in the various governorates of the Strip since the start of the quarantine procedures for returnees to Gaza, explaining that the Committee provides daily meals and the basic requirements for all quarantined people, in coordination with the competent government agencies, headed by the Ministries of Social Development and Health in Gaza.

Ambassador Al Emadi expressed the hope that his efforts and talks would succeed in reaching a truce agreement between all parties, in order to provide the basics for a normal and peaceful life for the residents of Gaza who live in extremely difficult situations.
