Director of Media, Communication Department at Foreign Ministry Urges Danish, Western Governments to Deter Perpetrators of Religious Hate Crimes

Doha - Media & Communication Dept. - April 04

Director of Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Sultan Al Hashmi expressed the State of Qatar's condemnation of burning a copy of the Holy Qur'an in Denmark, warning that allowing the repeated infringement of the Holy Qur'an under the pretext of freedom of expression fuels hatred and violence, threatens the values of peaceful coexistence, and reveals abhorrent double standards.

He also urged the Danish government and Western governments to take the necessary measures to combat Islamophobic rhetoric, deter perpetrators of religious hate crimes and benefit from historical and contemporary international models in the field of tolerance and coexistence, outside the framework of Western centralism.
During the weekly media briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he expressed his wonderment regarding the aim of value if it does not elevate people and nations to broader horizons than narrow hatred and intolerance, and whether the value will become valuable if it deviates from its path and becomes fueling right-wing and left-wing extremism.
Director of the Median and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar's condemnation, in the strongest terms, on the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by dozens of settlers, in addition to the so-called Temple Group's alleged agreement with the Israeli occupation police to extend the hours of storming Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He warned against introducing any changes to the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Occupied Jerusalem and its sanctities, and held the occupation authorities alone responsible for the cycle of violence that will result from this systematic policy against the rights of the Palestinian people, and urged the international community to take urgent action to stop these measures.
Al Hashemi emphasized the status of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in the hearts of millions of Muslims around the world, as it is the first of the two Qiblahs (destinations) and the third after the two Holy Mosques, which will not be changed by a thousand intrusions.
He stressed the State od Qatar's firm position regarding the just Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
Al Hashemi pointed out to the visit of HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi to the sisterly Lebanese Republic, which ends today.
HE explained that during his visit, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held meetings with HE Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Najib Mikati, HE Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government of the Republic of Lebanon Abdullah Bou Habib, HE Grand Mufti of the sisterly Republic of Lebanon Sheikh Abdul-Latif Derian, and HB Cardinal Patriarch Moran Mor Bechara Boutros Al Rahi, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East.
Al Hashemi noted the affirmation of HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meetings with Lebanese officials, on the firm position of the State of Qatar in supporting Lebanon and its brotherly people to get out of crises.
