Foreign Minister Opens Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition in Geneva

Geneva/Information Office/ 29 February 2016/ HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani opened today an Arabic calligraphy exhibition organized by the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva. Under the title 'human rights in the Islamic culture', the exhibition is held in collaboration with Qatar National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) under the auspices of Director-General of the United Nations Office in Geneva Michael Muller. The official opening of the exhibition was attended by NHRC Chairman Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, and Director-General of the United Nations Office Michael Mueller, President of the 70th session of UN General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft, and President of the Human Rights Council Ambassador CHOI Kyong-lim. HE the Foreign Minister inaugurated the exhibition which will run from 29 February to 4 March, in the presence of high-ranking dignitaries, representatives of permanent diplomatic missions in Geneva, and representatives of international organizations and non-governmental organizations in Geneva. In his opening remarks, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that this exhibition is in line with Qatar's efforts to support inter-faith dialogue, stressing that Islam stands alongside other divine religions to achieve peace and respect for human freedom and dignity.
