Qatari-European Friendship Association in European Parliament Established

The establishment of the Qatari-European Friendship Association in the European Parliament took place in Brussels, Belgium. The first meeting was held at the European Parliament, chaired by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission of the State of Qatar to the European Union Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, and the elected President of the Association and MP of the European Parliament for the People's Party Christian Silvio Bossoa.
Bossoa delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting in which he expressed his delight at the formation of this association, and stressed that it will work to strengthen relations between the State of Qatar and the European Parliament in various economic, political and cultural aspects.
For his part, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission of the State of Qatar to the European Union Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, in his speech, welcomed the deputies who joined the Qatari-European Friendship Association in the European Parliament, explaining that it will work to develop relations between the State of Qatar and the European Parliament.
His Excellency stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomatic work in general, noting the level of cooperation and the growing development of relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union thanks to the harmony and consensus of vision between the two sides, especially after the signing of the cooperation agreement between the State of Qatar and the European Union in March 2018.
HE the Ambassador touched on the achievements of the State of Qatar over the past years in various fields, whether in the field of natural gas or in the areas of foreign investment and sports, in addition to political activity. At the end of his speech, His Excellency expressed his hope that the Association will succeed in developing and strengthening relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union to serve the common interests, and called for efforts to develop these relations.
The main objective of the Association is to strengthen relations between the European Parliament and the State of Qatar in particular in various fields, to defend mutual interests and to promote bilateral cooperation through the organization of mutual meetings and visits to the Qatari and European sides.
The Association includes deputies from the various parties in the European Parliament, especially those interested in the role of the State of Qatar and its foreign development and education policy.
