Qatar Participates in Arab League Council Session at Level of Permanent Delegates

The Arab League Council met today at the level of Permanent Delegates headed by the Sultanate of Oman succeeding Iraq, with the participation of the State of Qatar. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, in preparation for the work of the 153rd Ordinary Session of the Council at the level of foreign ministers scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

HE the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the Arab League Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi headed Qatar's delegation to the preparatory session.

During the meeting, the Council reviews the agenda of the 153rd session which includes several topics, including various areas of joint Arab action regarding the report of the Secretary-General of the Arab League on the activity of the League's General Secretariat, and the procedures for implementing decisions between the two sessions of the League Council (152-153), as well as the draft agenda of the Arab League Council at the summit level in its 31st regular session and choosing a date of the 154th Ordinary Session of the Council at the ministerial level.

Furthermore, the agenda includes items on the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, developments in Syria, Libya, and Yemen, the security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arab Gulf region, support for peace and development in the Republic of Sudan, Federal Republic of Somalia and United Republic of Comoros.

Moreover, the agenda includes topics on the dangers of Israeli armaments on Arab national security and international peace, the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East, and topics related to the Arab relations with international and regional groupings.
