Qatar Announces Its Categorical Rejection of the Attempts to Forcibly Displace the Palestinian People from Gaza Strip

Doha- Media & Communication Dept. - 13 October

The State of Qatar announces its categorical rejection of the attempts to forcibly displace the brotherly Palestinian people from Gaza Strip, and calls for lifting the blockade on the Strip and providing full protection to civilians under international law and international humanitarian law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns of the danger of adopting a policy of collective punishment, including calls to evacuate the population of the northern Gaza Strip. It also considers that forcing civilians to displace or seek refuge in neighboring countries constitutes a violation of international laws, and would exacerbate the effects of the ongoing confrontations in the Occupied Palestinian territories and aggravate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Ministry urges the international community to move urgently to open humanitarian corridors that will allow international organizations to bring medical and food aid into Gaza, and evacuate injured civilians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the only guarantee for achieving sustainable peace in the region is to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, ensuring the restoration of rights to the Palestinian people, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
