The State of Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the criminal assassination of the Chief of Staff of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the failed coup attempt in Amhara region.

In a statement issued Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar's strong condemnation of the assassination of Amhara provincial governor during the coup attempt.

The State of Qatar considered this criminal act as an attempt to destabilize the security of the Republic of Ethiopia.

The State of Qatar, while affirming its support for the friendly government and people of Ethiopia, expresses its full confidence in the ability of the current government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed to overcome this ordeal and preserve the cohesion of the country in the face of any schemes against its security and stability, the statement added.
