An Official Source at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar commends Qatar Airways initiative to offer doctors and medical workers around the globe 100k return tickets.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the source said : "Throughout this pandemic, doctors and medical workers have been working selflessly and tirelessly to provide adequate medical care and protect their communities" . Qatars Airways initiative comes as a token of appreciation for their applaudable work, the official added.

The official noted that the State of Qatar and Qatar Airways have played a pivotal humanitarian role during the COVID-19 pandemic, through coordination with friendly and brotherly countries, Qatar Airways have transported more than 1 million passengers safely to their homes, in addition to tons of medical shipments, in a time when most airports are closed and airlines operations suspended.

These efforts have taken place despite the airspace blockade on Qatar, which increased the duration and cost of flights. Many friendly countries and international multilateral organizations lauded Qatar on its active role in battling the pandemic despite the illegal blockade, the official said.
