Qatar Participates in US Chamber of Commerce Panel Discussion

 The State of Qatar participated in the panel discussion organized remotely by the US Chamber of Commerce.

The State of Qatar was represented by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the US Sheikh Meshaal bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with a group of major American businessmen.

HE the ambassador stressed the strength and flexibility of the State of Qatar's economy in facing the pandemic, referencing positive forecasts for the Qatari economy by Moody's. He said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that the State of Qatar was the only country in the region that was on track to achieve a budget surplus in 2020.

He noted that the American private sector has been an important partner to the State of Qatar for many decades in economic development, particularly as economic diversification helps attract American companies to new sectors in the state. HE the ambassador highlighted the growing interest of American tech companies in entering the Qatari market, noting that Google was one of those companies.

For its part, the participating American companies praised the measures taken by the State of Qatar to contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19). They also praised the changes made by the State of Qatar in the last few years in order to attract more investments to the country.
