ASSISTANT FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS RED CROSS DIRECTOR-GENERAL

Geneva/ 08 May 2014/ HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met here today with Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Yves Daccord. Talks during the meeting dealt with a host of joint issues and means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two sides. HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdurrahman bin Jassim Al Thani praised the active role and efforts of the ICRC and its swift and effective response to the humanitarian needs of persons affected by armed conflicts or natural disasters, expressing Qatar's commitment to continuing the provision of all forms of support to enhce the ICRC activities. For his Part, the ICRC Director-General hailed the humanitarian efforts made by the State of Qatar, Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) and Qatari charitable institutions in support of humanitarian, relief and development operations all over the world. The meeting was attended by HE Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
