Arab League Postpones Meeting for Foreign, Defense Ministers

Cairo/ 26 August 2015/ The Arab League has on Wednesday officially postponed the joint meeting of Arab foreign and defense ministers with a new date to be set later, the pan-Arab organization said in a statement. The meeting was initially due to take place on Thursday but the Arab League received a memo from Saudi Arabia's permanent representative requesting a postponement of the meeting on behalf of the Saudi government. The Arab League said it also received memos from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE and Iraq backing the Saudi request. After consultations by Secretary General Nabil el-Araby with Arab summit president, Egypt, the meeting was put off.
