Foreign Minister's Assistant Meets Mayor of Shirakawa City

Doha/ Information Office/ 11 October 2015/ HE the Foreign Minister's Assistant for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met here on Sunday with the Mayor of Japan's Shirakawa City Kazuo Suzuki and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments regarding Qatar Sports Centre in Shirakawa City, which Qatar Friendship Fund has contributed for its reconstruction after being damaged by tsunami in 2011. Mayor Suzuki extended thanks to the State of Qatar's efforts in the reconstruction of cities and societies affected by the Tsunami, particularly his city. In turn, HE the Foreign Minister's Assistant for International Cooperation Affairs praised the historic relations between the two countries stressing Qatar's continuation to stand by the Japanese people and pursuit of developing the two countries' relations. The USD 5.8 million project aims at strengthening the bridges of friendship and cooperation between the State of Qatar and Japan and their peoples, and at restoring hope to those affected by the earthquake. It is expected to serve about 150 thousand people including juniors athletes and students.
