HE FM Hails Outcome of Qatar-Kuwait Supreme Joint Committee

Doha /Information Office/ 11 January 2016/ HE Foreign Minister Dr. Khaled bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah have hailed the deep ties between Qatar and Kuwait, stressing that the upcoming phase will witness more cooperation and coordination within the work of the supreme joint cooperation committee in a way that serves the joint Gulf work. Speaking in Doha during a joint press conference with Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled at the end of the fourth session of the Qatari-Kuwaiti supreme joint cooperation committee, HE Dr. Al Attiyah said they both were honored to meet HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and that they listened to his wise directives to work on promoting the distinguished bilateral ties between the two fraternal countries and peoples on all fronts. He added that the two sides discussed ways of promoting mutual cooperation and reviewed the different regional and international issues in an atmosphere of friendliness, fraternity and understanding, which reflected the depth of the historic and strong bilateral ties between them. Dr. Al Attiyah said that one of the outcomes of the session was signing a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in several fields including oil and gas, air transport, culture and media. He stressed that Qatar under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani spares no effort to work on the release of its captured citizens in Iraq and their safe return to their country and families in cooperation with the Iraqi government and other friends. He reiterated that the captured citizens entered Iraq legally with an approval from Iraqi government entities, hoping that these efforts will culminate in success. For his part, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled noted that the development in the march of Qatari-Kuwaiti ties is the result of a popular keenness on achieving that goal, saying that the session is an addition to what has been achieved before and expressing assurance about the future of this relationship thanks to its deep roots and the keenness on the two leaderships on expanding and activating it. He noted that the relationship between the two countries promotes the interests of Gulf joint action. He stressed that Qatari-Kuwaiti cooperation is existing and the two sides are working to increase it, particularly in the field of oil and gas and to benefit from the Qatari expertise so as to serve the interests of both countries on all fronts.
