HE Foreign Minister Meets UN Special Envoy to Libya

Doha/Information Office/ 4 May 2016/ HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met here on Wednesday with the Special Envoy of the United Nations in Libya, Martin Kobler, during his visit along with his accompanying delegation to Qatar. Talks during the meeting dealt with the developments of the situation in Libya, particularly the outcomes of the Second Libyan Reconciliation Conference held in Doha. HE the Foreign Minister stressed during the meeting the State of Qatar's support for political agreement and the resulting outputs, welcoming the start of the Presidential Council to exercise its functions from the Libyan capital Tripoli. The two sides also discussed the situation in Benghazi and in particular the deteriorating humanitarian situation, stressing the need for concerted efforts to work on the reconstruction of the Libyan City. HE the Foreign Minister renewed Qatar's support for all international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive national reconciliation for the stability and prosperity of Libya in order to achieve comprehensive development and preserve national unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
