Qatar Elected As Vice President FAO Council

Rome/ Information Office/ 05 December 2016/  The State of Qatar was elected as Vice President of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)'s Council during the opening of the 155th Session of the FAO Council, held at its headquarters in Rome on December 5 -9 December.

 HE Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al-Maliki Al Juhani, Qatar's Ambassador to the Italian Republic and Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome, took part in the FAO Council meetings which will discuss and take important decisions relating to the FAO's programs, approval of the annual budget, in addition to a review of all the reports of the FAO committees and bodies working in the fields of operations carried out by the organization in many countries of the world.

 The election of the State of Qatar as Vice President of the FAO Council confirms its special role in FAO 's work and continued support of Organization's policies and great humanitarian role in the fight against hunger, poverty and malnutrition faced by poor countries or countries with low incomes and resources.
