Doha/ Information Office/ 29 December 2016/ The State of Qatar has welcomed the proposals put forward by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry regarding a permanent settlement for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said the proposals go in line with the majority of international legitimacy's resolutions as well as the Arab Peace Initiative, stressing Qatar's support for efforts aiming at reviving the peace process in the Middle East.

The ministry reaffirmed the need to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital according to the references of the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant Security Council resolutions.
