Foreign Minister Meets Chinese Counterpart

HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Thursday in Beijing with HE Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and means of boosting and developing them, in addition to issues of mutual interest.

HE the foreign minister briefed his Chinese counterpart on the latest developments of the current Gulf crisis and the illegal measures taken against the State of Qatar. HE the foreign minister extended his thanks to his Chinese counterpart for the attention his country has paid to the Gulf crisis and its stance that calls for dialogue, respect for international law and support for Kuwaiti mediation.

In addition, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani expressed satisfaction over the path and development of bilateral relations, particularly after the signing of the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries in November 2014, with HE the foreign minister stressing the State of Qatar's commitment to partnership with China and developing and activating that partnership. He also expressed his aspiration to raise the level of strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the People's Republic of China.

The two sides also expressed their aspiration to sign a memorandum of understanding soon between Qatar Tourism Authority of the State of Qatar and the National Tourism Administration of the People's Republic of China to facilitate the trips of group Chinese tourists to the State of Qatar.
