Qatar Contributes to Coordinating Efforts for Holding Emergency Session of UN General Assembly on Jerusalem

Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations HE Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al -Thani, said that the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar had participated in the Arab-Islamic Movement in order to request the convening of the emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly on Jerusalem, after the United States had vetoed the Security Council on Monday on the draft Arab resolution on Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

"We have contributed to the coordination of Arab and Islamic efforts in order to request the convening of the emergency special session of the General Assembly on Jerusalem"" HE Sheikha Alia said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) . In this context, she added : we participated in the meeting held on Monday afternoon with the President of UN the General Assembly, along with permanent delegates of Palestine Jordan, Morocco an Turkey, and the Permanent Observer of the League of Arab and the Permanent Observer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the convening of the UN General Assembly as soon as possible. "

HE Sheikha Alia reiterated Qatar's firm stance on the Palestinian issue, stressing the State of Qatar's rejection of any measures that would change the status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif as stipulated in the related UN Security Council and UN resolutions.
