Qatar Welcomes Adoption of UN Security Council's Resolution on Cessation of Hostilities in Syria

The State of Qatar welcomed the adoption by the UN Security Council of resolution 2401, which calls for a cessation of hostilities without delay in Syria.

An official source at the Foreign Ministry called on the Security Council to continue serious and immediate work to protect civilians in Syria and to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches all those in need.

The source also praised the efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait, in its capacity as responsible for the humanitarian issue in Syria, the Arab member of the Security Council and the President of the Security Council for this month, which were a key factor in bringing together the members of the Council and reaching consensus on the draft resolution, as well as hailed efforts made by the Kingdom of Sweden, in its capacity as responsible for the humanitarian issue in Syria.
