The National Human Rights Action Plan Committee held its second consultative meeting with entities involved with humanitarian work and education and media sectors.

The meeting was chaired by HE Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, who is also the deputy chairman of the committee. The meeting was organized within the framework of the consultative process accompanying the preparation of the plan, as confirmed by the guidelines and best practices of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNCHR), and the commitment to ensuring the preparation process is accompanied by consultation with stakeholders in the promotion and protection of human rights.

The Rapporteur of the committee Fatma Al Kuwari, who is third secretary at Human Rights Department at the ministry touched on formation of the committee. Afterwards, representatives of different authorities presented their suggestions and recommendations.

It should be noted that the formation of the committee charged with preparing the national work plan was a decision of the Cabinet at its ninth ordinary meeting of 2017. The committee is chaired by HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Hammadi, and the membership of various entities in the state.

The formation of the committee comes within the framework of the State's efforts to establish a state of law and institutions, the subject of which is the promotion and protection of human rights as a strategic choice.
