Washington/Information Office/ 08 April 2015/ HE Qatar's Ambassador to the United States Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari emphasized the importance of involving young people as a key member in building peace and stability in Arab world. Profound transformations towards the cycle of violence and sectarianism which are being witnessed by the Arab world are the reason for looking for change prospects, HE the Ambassador said. Ambassador Al Kuwari spoke about Qatar's vision for the future, especially in the "peace economy", which aims to build an economy beyond the limits of urgent humanitarian aids and relief towards investment in civil society, human capital and sustainable development, stressing that its most important component is youth empowerment. In a meeting in the Pacific Council on International Policy in Los Angeles, California, attended by a group of researchers in politics and public affairs, figures from the civil society and HE Consul General of the State of Qatar Khalid Yousif Al Sada, Ambassador Al Kuwari said that Qatar believes in the power of young people to reshape communities, noting that the country's policy in this area is focusing on education and human development. He pointed to Qatar's transformation into an educational hub, or as described by the Qataris "a wide and open seminar". He also pointed to the presence of six American universities, along with other research institutions. HE Ambassador Al Kuwari noted to the international conferences which organized dialogue between religions, cultural pluralism and democracy, saying that they have become a model of cultural initiatives throughout the region. Regarding to Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, he said that QF aims to develop educational systems that meet the needs of the present and future generations. About major sport events hosted by Qatar, HE said that the State of Qatar considers that sport has a key role in peacemaking and has a message of global solidarity. On the issue of human development, Ambassador Al Kuwari emphasized the pursuit of the State of Qatar to achieve equal opportunities for all, empower women and strengthen civil society. He concluded his speech by saying that if there was one lesson to be learned from the Arab spring, it is sure that the future belongs to the youth, stressing the need to strive for the implementation of sustainable development, freedom and education's goals in order to stop the mindless violence and the violation of human rights and life.
