Qatar Mission to UN Office at Geneva Organizes Event on Syria Future

Geneva/ Information Office/ 25 June 2015 /The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva, in collaboration with the permanent missions of France, Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States, and the Organization / No Peace Without Justice / organized today an event" under the title / Syria after tyranny: the achievement of a democratic and multi- Parties future /. The event was held on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Human Rights Council, currently held in Geneva from June 15 until July 3, 2015.Participated in the event as a keynote speaker was the Deputy Chairman of the Syrian National Coalition Hisham Marwa along with Mr. Hussein Al Sabbag , Secretary-General of the European - Syrian Democratic Forum , Mr. Imad al-Din Rashid, head of the political office of the National Syrian movement, Ms. Basma Kodmani of the Arab initiative for reform, Mr. Amir Kazkaz from center documenting violations in Syria, and Alison Smith, legal advisor to the organization "No Peace without Justice" Organization. The event highlighted ways to obtain victims' rights, accountability mechanisms, the role of civic participation as prerequisites to ensure the establishment of a fair democracy in Syria to break the tyranny of extremism and dictatorship, with the need to remind the international community that in order to reach a lasting political solution to the war in Syria, obstacles to accountability must be overcome and to hold accountable all who are responsible for their crimes. Speaking at the event, the Acting Charge d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar in Geneva Mohannad Al Hammadi confirmed the full confidence in the ability of Syrian people to victory and get rid of the authoritarian Assad regime which has persistently continued in its crimes and violations of all the rights of the Syrian people , and that there would not be fear for the future of Syria after the demise of tyranny and the removal of the Assad regime. Al Hammadi expressed Qatar's belief in the ability and seriousness of honorable Syrians who will work on the leadership of the transitional political process, and eliminate all extremist and terrorist groups backed by the regime, which wreaked havoc and terror in Syria, and provided with the appropriate conditions for the presence and spread.
