Qatari Medical Assistance Plane Arrives in Mogadishu

In line with the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to send medical assistance to help those affected by the terrorist explosions that recently took place in the Somali capital, a military plane affiliated to Emiri Air Force landed in Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

The plane delivered relief and medical team, consisting of emergency teams and nurses of the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group, in addition to two tons of medicines and medical supplies.

After arrival in Mogadishu, the plane transported 27 injured Somalis along with their 27 companions to the Sudanese capital Khartoum for treatment, and will later transport a second batch of about 72 injured people and their companions.

In the same context, HE Prime Minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Khaire and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Yusuf-Garaad Omar thanked the State of Qatar for its continuous efforts in assisting the Somali people as they visited the injured people before their departure.

Hassan bin Hamza Asad, Charge d'affaires of the Embassy the State of Qatar in Mogadishu along with Somalia's Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development and Minister of Livestock were present to receive the Qatari plane. The Mayor of Mogadishu and officials and members of the Senate and the Somali Federal Parliament were also present.
