Washington – Information Office - November 13 The governments of the State of Qatar and the United States of America signed an arrangement to protect the interests of the United States of America in Afghanistan, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the temporary hosting of individuals at risk due to the situation in Afghanistan, and an agreement on the exchange of information related to travel visas. This came during the annual strategic dialogue between the two countries in its 4th session, which was launched in Washington under the chairmanship of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken. The dialogue included sessions on the World Cup, labor issues, human rights and human trafficking, military and security cooperation, visa and consular issues, regional and global discussions, energy and climate change, cultural and educational cooperation, as well as law enforcement and counter-terrorism partnership, and health, economic and trade cooperation. The dialogue included also two sessions on the sidelines of the first strategic dialogue for the Qatar-US Business Council and the second for Qatar-US Chamber of Commerce.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stressed that the 4th strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the United States of America represents another milestone in the strong historical partnership between the two countries.

The State of Qatar participated in the Paris International Conference for Libya, which was held in the French capital Paris, under the chairmanship of France, Italy and Germany, and in cooperation with the United Nations.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani received a copy of the credentials of HE Hassan bin Ahmed Al Motwa as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Georgia.

The Fourth Annual US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue will begin in Washington on Friday in its fourth session, chaired by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and HE US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

HE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi met today with HE Staff Director at U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Christopher Michael Socha, who is currently visiting the country.

HE President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Dr. Francisco Guterres received via video conferencing the credentials of HE Fawzia bint Idris Salman Al Sulaiti as non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued Wednesday Amiri decision no. 63 of 2021 appointing Fahad Mohamed Abdullah Al Attiyah as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The Information Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued two illustrated books documenting the aspects of development and modernization witnessed by the State of Qatar and highlighting its interest in its heritage, which reflects the balanced direction of the State in moving towards modernization while adhering to its identity and ancient heritage.

HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi met on Wednesday with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to Qatar Charles Sultana.
